How to: Save & Edit views

The Save View feature saves a lot of time and effort: instead of having to reconstruct a particular view by switching to the right Projection (Top/Plan, Front, Right Isometric, etc.), zooming in or out, turning on or off certain Layers and Classes, Save View simply remembers the current settings, and allows you to return to it precisely by just choosing it from the Saved Views popdown. Here's how it works.

Save View…

When you have a particular view just the way you want it, go to the Save View popdown [1], and choose Save View…

Give it a suitable name.

The name you choose is up to you, but choose one that is reasonably informative.
NOTE what it is saving: the View Orientation (Top/Plan, Front, Right Isometric, or whatever), the degree of zoom and pan, the page location, whether or not the Unified View is turned on, and the particular Layers and Classes setup (which ones are turned on or off, the current Layer and Class options, and the current Active Layer and Active Class). You can turn off any of these options, so they're NOT saved as part of the view – e.g. return to the same place, but don't preserve the current Layers or Classes setup.

Edit View…

The view that you created is now part of the Saved Views list [1]. To edit any of these views, choose Edit View… from the Save View popdown [2].

Edit within the Organization dialog

As you can see, this takes you to the same Organization dialog in which we view and edit Layers and Classes [1].
To edit any particular view, simply select it from the list, then click Edit… below [2] – or simply right-click its name and choose Edit… from the popup menu [3].

Layers, Classes setups

Within the Save View dialog – either when you create it or afterwards when you Edit it – you can click on the Layers… or Classes… buttons to set or tweak the particular combination of Design Layers and Classes that are visible, invisible, or greyed out in that particular view [1, 2]. These settings will apply next time you go to that View. You can also set or change the Layer Options and Class Options that apply, and Layer and/or Class that becomes the Active one when you choose this view [3, 4].
